Trip Tips
You can take the CTA Greenline to the show! Get off at the 22nd Street / McCormick stop. Wanna walk from the El but get out of the cold? Walk East to the Home2 Suites by Hilton Chicago McCormick Place (123 E Cermak Rd Suite 200, Chicago, IL 60616). It’s on the South side of the street just pass Michigan Ave. Walk in to the lobby and go to the elevators to the right of the front desk. Take the elevator to the 3rd floor. Walk east toward McCormick Place in the warm comfort of the Sky Bridge. Plenty of bathrooms along the way too!
Wanna get in a new Ford vehicle and hit the streets? Go to the lower level (Take the escalator that is by the Lexus booth. Once downstairs sign up at the Ford tent. You can’t miss it. Ford has the new Ranger, Explorer, Edge ST and F150 down there. A Ford staffer will drive you on the streets of Chicago and tell you about the vehicle along the way. After you get your test drive stop back at the booth as they are handing out $5 Starbucks gift cards.
Want to get a beer but that line is so long you say forget it? Go over by the Jeep track. All the way to the back. Goose Island (local Chicago beer) has a Chicago El train car repurposed in to a bar! They move nice and quick so you won’t waste time in line. Grab a Goose Island and go watch the Jeeps go by on the test track.

Snowflake Special: Chicago’s Holiday El Train
This excursion is a fundraiser to support preservation and restoration of IRM’s rapid transit collection.
Do you and your family enjoy riding CTA’s Holiday Train, but not the crowds or the standing-room-only experience? The members of the Illinois Railway Museum invite you to join them as they tour CTA’s rapid transit system. Each ticketed rider will have a seat for the entire trip. Each trip is planned to travel to the City’s North, South, and West Sides, as well as downtown, with different lines to be covered on the two trips.
I did this a couple of years ago and it was awesome. I ride the El often to get around Chicago. There’s so many times where I wanted to get a pic or record some video on my commute but the train was too full and I couldn’t get the shot. This is is like an all day opportunity for picture taking and recording! It’s also kind of nice to sit back and relax and not have to have my ‘street senses” turned up to 11 while on the train.
There are two separate trips or you can get a deal and really go for a full day and do both. Tour kicks off and finishes up at Harlem & Lake. Easy parking there too.
This is a family friendly event but maybe not for anyone too young. Let’s put it this way. There’s no bathroom on the train (Insert Redline at 2am remark here!) but there are designated bathroom stops. Also, there will be a lot video bloggers there too. You are going to be the least popular people on the train if you have a bunch of screaming kids running up and down the aisles while people are trying to document the ride and event. Just sayin’!

Thursday 11-29-2018 – Come stand up for Grant Park Skate Park and enjoy a FREE award winning documentary.

We want to fill the theater which seats 100 people. We want a strong showing to show the NIMBYs and people against outdoor activity, and the skate park in Grant Park that we have the numbers. This is really important and we need to show the Chicago Park District as well.
The key word, here, is attendance! Please come to the theater!
